Ohio State then scored four times over the remaining five innings to break the tie and grab the 6-2 win. Minnesota pushed its second run across on Hunt's one-out RBI double, which evened the score at 2-2 in the fourth. OSU scored the first two runs of the game on three consecutive doubles in the bottom of the second. Minnesota cut into the lead in the third, getting an RBI single from Neels, which scored Bateman from second base to make it 2-1. Rookie Weber Neels also contributed for Minnesota, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI. Freshman Sam Hunt went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. In addition to his three hits, Bateman had a walk to lead the Golden Gophers. Junior Noah DeLuga was a bright spot for the Golden Gophers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing two shutout innings, allowing one hit, with two walks and one strikeout. Sophomore George Klassen (1-4) got the ball to start for Minnesota (6-20, 1-1) and took the loss.
